BINTULU, Aug 22: A fatal collision along the Bintulu-Samalaju road this morning claimed the life of a man who was trapped inside his Proton Preve after it collided with a lorry.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), it received a call at 8.41am, prompting the Kidurong Fire and Rescue Station to deploy and arrive at the scene at 9.13am.
“Upon arrival at the scene, Bomba personnel found that the road accident involved two vehicles, namely a Proton Preve and a lorry,” said in a statement today.
The Proton Preve driver was trapped in the driver’s seat and was later confirmed dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel.
The trapped victim was extricated using rescue tools before being handed over to the police for further action.
The operation was brought under control at 9.45am and ended at 10am, after firefighters ensured the scene was safe before returning to the station. — DayakDaily
