Man injured in alleged assault by employer’s son, duo nabbed

SIBU, April 17: A foreigner suffered head injury after being allegedly assaulted by his employer’s son who accused him of bringing bad luck to the family.

It was learned that at about 9am on April 15, the 38-year-old victim went to the ferry at Town Square Phase Two as he wanted to find a friend who is staying across the river.

The purpose of the meeting was for him to find a new job.


While waiting for the ferry, his employer, a middle-aged woman called him up.  The woman told him that she would be coming to give him his salary.

The victim had been working with the family for three years in their plantation.

However the woman showed up with her son who is in his early 30s.

Without any warning, the man was believed to have started to assault him with a stick.

He run off to the back of a shophouse seeking help from the public.

An ambulance from the Civil Defence Force later sent him to the hospital for treatment of his injury.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the police had arrested the woman and her son.

“Both have been remanded for five days to assist investigations,” he said.— DayakDaily
