Man gets 4 years behind bars for gang robbery

KUCHING, Feb 15: A man was today sentenced to four years’ jail for committing gang robbery with two accomplices who are still at large in March last year.

Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga ordered that the jail sentence to start from the day the accused, Abdul Hamid Abdul Aziz from Sri Aman, was arrested.


Abdul Hamid was charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment that may extend to 20 years and whipping, for robbing a youth of his smartphone with two others on March 17 at about 11.45am at the Kuching Waterfront.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali prosecuted while the accused was not represented. — DayakDaily
