KUCHING, Feb 11: A man was found safe today after he went missing overnight while searching for lokan (clams) in the river near Kampung Jaya Bakti, Matang here.

According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the 29-year-old man went out from his home around 9am yesterday (Feb 10) to find lokan alone.

However, his failure to return home has prompted his father to lodge a police report at Batu Kawa Police Station in the wee hours today.

The search for the missing man began around 2am but it was halted at 4am due to heavy rain. It was continued at 8.40am.

“The victim was found in a weak state by his own father 300 metres away from their home around 12.45pm this afternoon.

“Following that, the search operation was called off at 2.30pm,” Bomba reported. — DayakDaily
