Man found dead in drain in Bintulu

BINTULU, Nov 16: The body of an unidentified man was found in a two-metre deep drain in the Paragon area near Sekolah Kebangsaan St Anthony yesterday (Nov 15).

The Bintulu District Police Headquarters (IPD) in a media statement said the victim’s body was found by a member of the public who then immediately lodged a report with the police at around 12.45pm.

It stated that the police immediately went to the scene of the incident to investigate.


After a preliminary investigation at the location, it is believed that the victim slipped into the drain and suffered a blow to the head while trying to cross the drain.

“Also found at the scene of the incident was a small board believed to have been used to cross the drain,” read the statement.

Examination of the victim’s body did not find any criminal elements that could be linked to the case.

“The victim’s identity has also not been identified because no identification was found on the victim’s body,” it noted.

The case has been classified as a sudden death.
