Man found dead in drain after fatal Sibu accident

KUCHING, Feb 28: A man was killed in a single-vehicle road accident along Jalan Kuari towards Taman Bukit Aup in Sibu at about 3.39pm today. He was believed to have been thrown from his vehicle and into a roadside drain upon impact.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 3.39pm and dispatched personnel from the Sungai Merah station to the location, approximately five kilometres away. The team arrived at 3.45pm.

According to the operations commander, upon arrival, firefighters found the victim inside a drain near the road.

“Initial information indicated that the accident did not involve other vehicles and that the impact had caused the man to be thrown out from his vehicle and into the drain,” said the report.

Medical personnel later confirmed the victim’s death at the scene.

Firefighters subsequently retrieved the body and moved it to a safe area before handing it over to the police for further investigation. — DayakDaily
