KUCHING, May 3: A man who was feared to have drowned after slipping and falling into the water while walking down a jetty towards a vessel near the Tanjung Manis Fisheries Port on Friday (May 2) was found dead this morning.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) report, the victim, 40-year-old Tan San Belati, was found by the public near a factory, approximately 3km from the Bomba control post.
“The operations commander noted that they received information on the discovery at 7.51am,” said the operations commander.
The body was handed over to the police for further action.
In the 1.56am incident, the victim was last seen wearing denim shorts and a collared blue shirt.
He was believed to be returning to a trawler to rest following a gathering with colleagues when he slipped and fell into the river.
His colleagues attempted to search for him but were unsuccessful, prompting them to alert a security officer and file a police report. — DayakDaily
