Man fined RM8,000 for drug possession, drug abuse

KUCHING, Oct 18: A man charged with possessing, consuming and using dangerous drugs pleaded guilty at the Magistrates Court here yesterday and was sentenced to a fine of RM8,000 and placed under supervision for two years.

For the offence of possessing dangerous drugs, the accused Alvin Bong Ong Lim, 27, was sentenced to a fine of RM3,000 or in default 6 months’ imprisonment; for the offence of using dangerous drugs, he was sentenced to a fine of RM3,000 or in default 6 months’ imprisonment; and for the offence of consuming dangerous drugs, he was sentenced to a fine of RM2,000 or in default of 4 months’ imprisonment and undergo supervision for 2 years.


Bong was charged with possession of 0.59 grammes of methamphetamine on November 25 2013, an offence under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act.

He was also charged with using amphetamine and methamphetamine on January 8, 2013, around 3.45pm at Jalan Kung Phin, an offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 15(1).

Besides that, he was charged with consuming amphetamine and Methamphetamine on November 25, 2013, at about 11.20pm at Batu Kawa police station, an offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under the same Act. — DayakDaily
