KUCHING, July 23: The Magistrate’s Court here today fined a self-employed man RM5,000 for causing hurt to a security personnel of a supermarket when he was stopped from entering it as he wasn’t wearing a face mask.

Muslimin Mohamad, 27, pleaded guilty to the charge that was read out to him before Magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of ten years or with fine or with both, upon conviction.

The accused had hurt Erickson Briak Vicent, 24, by using a helmet at a supermarket in Jalan Pending, on July 17.

According to the brief facts of the case, the accused was not wearing a face mask when he tried to enter the said supermarket.

The victim had then tried to stop Muslimin from entering as it was against the standard operating procedures, but the accused had suddenly lashed out and hit the victim with a motorcycle helmet, causing hurt to the victim’s head and other parts of his body. — DayakDaily
