Man feared drowned after falling off Lutong Bridge found dead on Day 3 of search ops

KUCHING, Feb 13: The 32-year-old man who was feared to have drowned after falling off the Lutong Bridge at Kampung Pangkalan, Jalan Paragon, on Wednesday (Feb 11) was found dead on the third day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation today.

In a report by the Fire and Rescue Department, the body was found at 7.10am, approximately 1.3km from the operations control post and 1km from where he was believed to have fallen.

Based on the chronology of events, a witness riding a motorcycle was crossing the bridge when the victim was spotted at the edge of the bridge before falling into the river.

The witness saw the victim struggling before being submerged and swept away by the current, then immediately contacted the police to report the incident.

The victim was also known to have been dealing with mental health challenges.
