SIBU, Nov 28: A man died after the pickup truck he was driving skidded and hit a tree on Jalan Sungai Bidut at midnight last night.
In the 12.30 midnight incident, Irwan Christopher Pandong, 41, from Kampung Siol Kandis, Petra Jaya, Kuching died at the scene.
Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said at the time of the incident the victim was driving alone from the direction of Sungai Bidut area towards the direction of Igan Bridge.
“Preliminary investigation found that the accident happened when the car driven by the victim suddenly skidded to the left of the road and hit a tree by the roadside.
“The victim who suffered serious injuries was confirmed dead by the Sibu Hospital paramedics,” he said today.
He said the victim’s body was sent to Sibu Hospital for autopsy He added that the police are still investigating the accident under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – DayakDaily
