12 red flagged for violating RMCO guidelines, fined RM1000 each

SIBU, Nov 28: A total of 12 persons, five in Sibu and seven in Kapit have been fined RM1,000 each for violating RMCO yesterday

Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the five were food handlers from two different eating outlets in Jalan Lanang and Jalan Lada who were caught for not wearing a face mask during an RMCO operation from 8am to 2pm on Friday.

The operation was led by Sibu Crime Prevention and Community Policing Department chief, DSP Ariffin Bahar.


The integrated enforcement team comprised of two senior police officers, 29 other ranks and files, and six from the army, civil defence force and Sibu Municipal Council.

“During the operation, a woman was also caught for allegedly selling illegal 4-D numbers at a shop in Jalan Lanang,” he added.

Meanwhile, in Kapit, the district police chief, DSP Freddy Bian said seven persons of shop owners and members of the public, were also compounded for the same offence of not wearing a face mask.

“They were caught during an RMCO enforcement operation last night,” he added.

The action was taken under Regulation 8 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.- DayakDaily
