KUCHING, July 26: A 59-year-old man was killed in a fatal road accident in Bintulu last night after he was flung out of his four-wheel-drive (4WD) truck and landed in a drain.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 11.26 pm and a team was deployed to the scene.
According to a statement from the State Bomba Operation Centre, it was believed that the deceased lost control of his 4WD truck and was thrown out from the vehicle.
The deceased was stuck in the drain besides the road after the vehicle landed on him.
Bomba members immediately started their operation to bring the deceased out with assistance from members of the car towing company.
The deceased was later brought out from the drain and was pronounced dead by the medical officer from the Nyabau Hospital in Bintulu.
The deceased was then handed over to the police for further action and Bomba returned their station after ensuring the scene was safe. -DayakDaily
