KUCHING, Aug 27: A man claimed trial at the Session’s Court here to sexual assault charges against his seven-year-old daughter.
The 32-year-old accused, from Jalan Matang, pleaded not guilty to the charge read before judge Jason Juga.
The court fixed Sept 23 for case management.
According to the facts of the case, the accused was found to have put his genital on the back of his seven-year-10-month-old daughter at their home, at around 8pm on Aug 19, 2019.
He was charged under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children 2017 and punishable under Section 16(1) of the same Act, which carries a maximum 20 years’ jail and whipping upon conviction.
DPP Nurfadzlin Mahmad Zulhasnan prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
