MIRI, May 31: A local man was charged in the Magistrates’ Court here today with the murder of a man whose body was found with injuries to the head in a Jalan Boulevard 2B back alley.
The 36 year-old accused nodded his head to show he understood after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Nazira Adlin Ahmad Khairul Razi.
He was charge with causing the death of the deceased (the identify of the deceased has yet to be ascertained) on May 19, 2022, between 1am to 3am.
The charge, framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, provides for the death penalty upon conviction.
No plea was recorded from the accused.
The court has set July 1 for mention of the case.
Inspector Syahrizan Taha appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.
