KUCHING, Jan 5: A man and a boy managed to escape to safety thanks to quick action by members of the public after the car they were in caught fire following an accident at the P-turn of Kampung Singai, Jalan Bau-Kuching, at the Pan Borneo Highway today.
According to a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received a call on the incident at 11.29am and deployed firefights from the Bau station to the scene.
Upon arrival at 11.50am, the operations commander reported that a Proton Wira had caught fire and was approximately 90 per cent destroyed following a road accident in whereby the vehicle hit a ditch.
“Based on information obtained, the man and boy who were in the vehicle were rescued by the public.
“The victims, who were injured, were then sent to Bau Hospital by members of the public,” said the report.
Firefighters then proceeded to put out the car fire and after assessing the situation, the operation ended at 12.03pm. — DayakDaily
