MIRI, May 17: A 53-year-old `real estate agent’ was arrested yesterday to facilitate investigation into an alleged fraudulent land deal.

The 33-year-old victim in the purported land sale spotted the suspect along the roadside of Desa Bunga Raya at about 8.15pm yesterday. He immediately called a nearby Resident Committee (RC) to help apprehend and bring him to the police station.

The whole episode actually started on April 26 this year, when the suspect claimed there was a piece of land in Lambir for sale at RM70,000.

When the two of them next meet on May 6 in Lutong, the victim allegedly passed RM30,000 as a deposit for the land. But after the money changed hands, the suspect disappeared.

Feeling cheated, the victim then lodged a police report. — DayakDaily
