SIBU,Dec 28: A man has been arrested following a video which has gone viral showing him brandishing a knife at public members at Jalan Pulau.
Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said today that the suspect was detained at about 9pm on Tuesday.
“At about 5pm yesterday, we detected a 26-second video showing a man riding a motorcycle at Jalan Pulau brandishing a knife at public members,” he said.
The police criminals investigation department managed to trace the man and arrest him at a place at Jalan Bukit Assek at 9pm.
A knife and a motorcycle were also seized from the suspect.
ACP Zulkipli said the case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosives and Explosive Substance and Offensive Weapon Act 1958.
The section provides for an imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years and shall also be punished with caning with not less than six strokes of the rotan. – DayakDaily
