Man arrested for assaulting, threatening girlfriend with knife

MIRI, Sept 6: Police on Tuesday afternoon arrested a 32-year-old after he was allegedly assaulted and threatened his 37-year-old girlfriend with a knife.

The alleged incident reportedly happened at the victim’s house in Jee Foh Road here around 10am on Sept 4.

Prior to the incident, the couple were involved in an altercation over money issues.


In the middle of the quarrel, the suspect took a kitchen knife and put it on the victim’s throat while threatening her.

According to sources, the suspect became furious after the victim delayed in giving him cash.

Following the incident, the victim sustained some bruises on her body.

Acting on a police report lodged by the victim after the incident, a team of Miri Criminal Investigation Department personnel arrested the suspect around 12pm that same day.

He is currently being detained under police custody for questioning.

The offence is being framed under Section 323/506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation. — DayakDaily
