BAU, Dec 23: A 22-year-old local man was arrested by the police during “Ops Dadu” for allegedly operating online gambling without a permit in Jalan Temenggung Salau, in Bau, yesterday.
Bau district police (IPD) chief DSP Poge Nyaon in a statement said the suspect was arrested by a team of police from the district’s Crime Investigation Department at 2.43 pm, on Saturday.
“The suspect was arrested after he was suspected to be operating an illegal online gambling in an unnamed premise at Jalan Temenggung Salau,” he said in the statement.
Poge also noted that the suspect and all the confiscated items was brought to IPD Bau to facilitate further investigations under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
He said that the suspect also had no prior criminal record.
Among the items confiscated from the suspect was a handphone and an undisclosed amount of cash.—DayakDaily.
