SIBU, Jan 9: A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a food delivery rider at Raminway on Friday (Jan 7).

Acting Sibu District Police Chief, Supt Collin Babat said today that in the 9.30am incident, the victim had gone to an eatery to pick up an order.

“When the victim was unable to manoeuvre his motorcycle out as it was obstructed by a car driven by an unknown man, he sounded the horn,” he said.

“A man suddenly appeared and punched the victim in his face, resulting in injury on his nose,” he added.

Collin said the initial investigation revealed that the incident happened because the suspect accused the victim of hitting his car.

He said the suspect has been remanded for three days to assist the ongoing investigation under Section 352 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
