MIRI, March 13: A local man was detained by the police last night on suspicion of abusing his 11-year-old son at a house in Jalan Hillstone.
The suspect was picked up at his home around 9.50pm after the police received a report earlier that night.
Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Jawari when contacted confirmed the arrest.
According to Hakemal, the police has also seized two green water hose pipes believed to have been used in the incident.
The 44-year-old suspect is currently detained at Miri Central Police Station (CPS).
The case is being investigated under Section 31 (1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. — DayakDaily
