KUCHING, Aug 10: Mambong incumbent Datuk Dr Jerip Susil is ‘pushing the button’ for all Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) members in his constituency to be prepared for the state election.

He said as informed by GPS top leadership, the state election is to be held anytime from now.

“We (the elected representatives) were told by GPS top leadership, that the state election is to be held anytime from now, which means that we have to be really ready and prepared and to mobilise our team,” he pointed out.

The term of the current Sarawak Legislative Assembly expires in June 2021.

Dr Jerip, who is Assistant Minister of Transport and widely tipped to defend the seat for GPS under Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), said this during a gathering at the residence of former village chief of Kpg Emperoh Garung at Jalan Borneo Heights near here.

At the function, which was attended by Cr. Ahkim Sarok from Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Mambong branch chief Cr. Gerald Minah and PBB members, he also handed GPS flags to the component parties and village chiefs.

Meanwhile, a similar event to hand over GPS flags would be held at Bengoh Resettlement Scheme (BRS), with the date yet to be fixed.-DayakDaily
