Mambong constituency on track to vaccinate 6,832 eligible recipients by August

KUCHING, June 28: Mambong constituency is well on track to vaccinate all the eligible people in the area by the end of this August.

Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said he was satisfied with the overall progress of the present vaccination exercise at the three health clinics at Bra’ang Bayur, Bunuk and Padawan.

“The vaccination for Covid-19 in the area (Mambong) is going on smoothly at the three clinics, so we are well on track and I’m confident that we’ll meet the target to have all the eligible people to get vaccinated by end of this August,” Dr Jerip told reporters today.

Dr Jerip, who is Assistant Transport Minister, said this after visiting Covid-19 vaccination centre at Bra’ang Bayur Health Clinic, having earlier visited the centres at Bunuk and Padawan.

The vaccination exercise at Bunuk Rural Clinic and Padawan Rural Clinic started on June 14, while Bra’ang Bayur Health Clinic on June 16, with each allocated 360 doses per week.

Dr Jerip suggested for the doses for all the three clinics be increased to enable all the eligible people from Padawan sub-district area be vaccinated as soon as possible, adding that an estimated 6,832 people in the area are eligible for Covid-19 vaccination.

According to Dr Jerip, the clinic at Bunuk have vaccinated 50.7 per cent of the people registered while the clinic at Bayur, 28.5 per cent and in Padawan, 45.3 per cent.

In total, the clinic at Bunuk records 1, 261 registrations while the clinic at Bra’ang Bayur and Padawan 2,245 and 1,413 registrations, respectively.

Dr Jerip also commended the spirit of volunteerism among locals in helping with the vaccination exercise, adding that, he, himself had set up Mambong Constituency Vaccination Management Committee to coordinate the three Covid-19 vaccination centres.
