SIBU, Aug 7: A male influencer under police investigation for alleged sexual harassment involving two women spent more than two hours at the Sibu Central Police Station yesterday (Aug 6) to assist in the probe.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the influencer, who was summoned by police, arrived at the station around 9am accompanied by his lawyer. He was not detained following the questioning session.

The lawyer told reporters that the influencer would not be giving any media interviews for now to avoid the risk of his remarks being misinterpreted or taken out of context.

He also called on the public to allow the legal process to take its course and not to spread unverified information online, as this could cause distress to those involved and potentially lead to cyberbullying.

Sibu District Police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili had previously confirmed that two police reports were lodged by female complainants, with investigations being conducted under Section 509 of the Penal Code for using words or gestures intended to insult the modesty of a person.

If convicted, the offence carries a maximum jail term of five years, a fine, or both. — DayakDaily
