KUCHING, Jan 23: The Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok is intensifying its efforts to locate Andy Jee Ying Kit, a 30-year-old man who has been reported missing since last week.
Malaysia’s Chargé d’Affaires to Thailand, Bong Yik Jui, shared that his team is collaborating closely with Thai authorities and Andy’s family to expedite the search.
Andy, who reportedly arrived in Bangkok on Jan 8, was last heard from before he failed to return to work in Singapore as planned on Jan 15.
“The consular team contacted Andy’s cousin, who provided details about is trip to Bangkok on Jan 8 based on information provided by Andy’s friend,” Bong told Bernama when contacted on Jan 21 (Tuesday).
While Thai authorities are actively working on the case, Bong cautioned that additional time may be needed to verify entry records and further probe Andy’s whereabouts based on family-provided leads.
The search gained public attention after Andy’s cousin posted on social media, seeking assistance when his phone line was found disconnected and he failed to report back to work. –DayakDaily
