KUCHING, June 10: Malaysia WICITRA Craft Award 2021 is calling Malaysian artisans and craftsperson aged 18 years and above to participate in the award to have their best crafts and design works recognised and rewarded in propelling the creative industry.
Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), WICITRA 2021 is an initiative by Malaysia Handicraft that aims to ensure that the crafts industry can sustain and progress from time to time.
According to a media release today, the WICITRA 2021 is organised to provide opportunities as well as to recognise artisans and craftspeople for pushing the boundaries with their creativity by producing handicrafts that are of high quality and value.
The award is open to all crafts entrepreneurs, designers, artisans, students as well as any individuals who are involved in the crafts industry.
The award has five product segments namely fashion/apparel, fashion accessories, home and garden furnishing, gift and souvenirs, hobbies and lifestyle in which consisted of six categories or material namely textiles, forest products, land products, metals, various crafts and mixed media.
A total of three participants from each category will be selected for the WICITRA Award 2021 where the winners will receive a medal, certificate of excellence and RM1,000 cash prize.
The winner of the Malaysia Handicraft Development Corporation Special Award will bring home a trophy, certificate of excellence and RM3,000 cash prize.
Participations are now open and will be closed on July 3, 2021.
