KUCHING, April 16: Malaysia and South Korea are set to further strengthen their infrastructure partnership with an upcoming signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) currently being formalised between Malaysia’s Ministry of Works and South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).
In a recent Facebook post, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi shared that the MoU will focus on collaboration in road technology, infrastructure development, and smart construction.
He also highlighted Malaysia and South Korea’s strong and longstanding partnership, which has helped shape some of Malaysia’s most iconic infrastructure such as the Penang Bridge, the Petronas Twin Towers, and Merdeka 118.
“As we commemorate 65 years of diplomatic ties, I’m proud to share that Korean companies have been awarded 89 projects worth RM29.3 billion in Malaysia between 2018 and March 2025,” he said, following the Road & Construction Technology Cooperation Seminar, which was co-organised by the Ministry of Works Malaysia, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK).
At the seminar, held recently, Nanta also highlighted the National Construction Policy 2030 — Malaysia’s strategic roadmap to modernise the construction industry through digitalisation, sustainability, and global competitiveness.
“With Malaysia chairing Asean this year and Korea being an active dialogue partner, this seminar couldn’t have come at a better time to push forward greater regional collaboration in infrastructure technology,” he added. – DayakDaily
