Malaysia sets new high for daily Covid-19 tally with 432 cases

KUCHING, Oct 5: The Ministry of Health (MOH) disclosed the country recorded the highest daily number of new Covid-19 cases today at 432, with 429 local transmissions and three imported cases.

The ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah noted this brings the total cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 12,813 cases, with 2,336 active cases.

“The local transmission cases involved a total of 409 Malaysian, while 20 others are foreigners. The three imported cases involved two Malaysians and one foreigner,” he revealed in a press statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham disclosed 57 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals, which brings the total number of recovered and discharged cases in the country today to 10,340 cases (80.7 per cent of overall cases).

“A total of 32 cases are currently being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), with eight of them under respiratory assistance, and zero death were also reported, and the death toll remains at 137 cases (1.07 per cent of overall cases),” he added.

According to the statistics for the new cases reported in the country today released by MOH, Kedah had the highest number with 241 cases, followed by Sabah with 130 cases.

Other states also reported new cases, namely Selangor (34 cases), Terengganu (five), Labuan (four), Kuala Lumpur (two), Perak (two), Putrajaya (two), Sarawak (one), Kelantan (one), Melaka (one) and Pahang (one).
