Malaysia sees two Covid-19 cases today

KUCHING, June 30: Malaysia registered two new positive cases of Covid-19 today.

The information was revealed by Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a press statement.


He said out of the two new cases, one was imported and the other was from local transmission.

Dr Noor Hisham disclosed that the imported case involved a Malaysian who returning from Egypt and the local transmission case involved another Malaysian who was detected following a Covid-19 swab test as a referral case for hospital admission into Kota Belud Hospital in Sabah.

With two new Covid-19 cases, Dr Noor Hisham said the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Malaysia has increased to 8,639 cases.

He added there were 20 patients who recovered and discharged from health facilities today.

With extra 20 patients recovered, Dr Noor Hisham said the cumulative number of Covid-19 patients who recovered and discharged from hospitals to date was 8,354 persons.

He added that there are 164 active Covid-19 cases in the country with four patients being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of health facilities with one patient on ventilator.

Dr Noor Hisham said there was no increase in the number of deaths due to Covid-19 today. —DayakDaily
