Malaysia sees eight new Covid-19 cases and one death

KUCHING, July 11: Malaysia recorded eight new positive cases and one death due to Covid-19 today.

The information was revealed by the Ministry of Health (MoH) in a press statement.


“The latest casualty which is case number 8,702 involved a 72-year old Malaysian who had hypertension and diabetes.

“He was confirmed to have died at Sarawak General Hospital on July 10 at 5.49 pm,” the Ministry of Health said.

MoH said out of the eight new cases, four cases were local transmission and four were imported.

For the local transmission cases, two were in Selangor which involved foreigners and one each in Sarawak and Sabah which involved locals.

As for the imported cases, MoH said two cases involved Malaysians returning from Singapore in Johor, one case was detected in Selangor involving a Malaysian who returned from Pakistan and one case in Sarawak which involved a person returning from the United Kingdom.

With the additional eight cases, MoH said the cumulative number of Covid-19 in the country has increased to 8,704 cases.

MoH noted the death toll due to Covid-19 has also risen to 122 persons.

It added there were four patients who recovered and discharged from hospitals today.

MoH said there were 67 active cases in the country while three patients are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the health facilities while two patients were on ventilators. —DayakDaily
