KUCHING, Dec 20: A total of 1,340 Covid-19 cases were reported nationwide today, including three imported cases.
According to Ministry of Health (MOH) director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today, two imported cases were recorded in Sarawak and one were recorded in Selangor, while the rest are local transmissions.
“Selangor remains with the highest number of cases reported with a total of 441 cases, follow by Kuala Lumpur with 284 cases, Sabah (196), Negeri Sembilan (169), Johor (156), Pulau Pinang (30), Labuan (27), Pahang (12), Perak (10), Kedah (six), Sarawak (three), Terengganu (two), Putrajaya (two), Melaka (one) and Kelantan (one), while Perlis reported zero case.
“This brings the total cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 93,3309 cases, with 15,563 cases still active,” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham also revealed 1,067 Covid-19 cases have recovered and were discharged from hospital today, bringing the cumulative number of recovered and discharged cases to 77,309 cases (83.9 per cent of total cases reported).
He noted that currently, 116 cases are being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), with 57 cases requiring respiratory assistance.
“Unfortunately, there is an addition of four Covid-19 deaths involving three Malaysians and one foreigner today, bringing the total number of Covid-19 fatalities in the country to 437 cases (0.47 per cent of total cases),” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham also confirmed there were three new clusters identified today involving a total of 203 individuals who tested positive for Covid-19.
“The new clusters are namely the Metropolis construction site cluster (147 cases) in Kuala Lumpur, the Maju Estate cluster (28 cases) in Sabah, and the Batu 39 cluster (28 cases) in Johor,” he added. — DayakDaily
