KUCHING, March 22: A total of 1,116 new Covid-19 cases were reported throughout the nation today with five deaths recorded.
Ministry of Health (MOH) director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the total number of cases recorded today, eight were import cases involving five Malaysians and three foreigners while the rest (1,108 cases) are local transmissions.
“This brings the total cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 334,156 cases, with 14,134 active cases,” he said in a statement today.
Dr Noor Hisham noted a total of 1,495 positive Covid-19 cases have also recovered today bringing the total cumulative of recovered cases to 318,784 cases (95.4 per cent).
“Currently, a total of 156 cases are being treated in the intensive care unit with 60 of them under respiratory assistance,” he added.
On the same note, Dr Noor Hisham said the five death cases involving Covid-19 today were reported in Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Pahang, Penang and Kuala Lumpur.
“Four of the cases which were reported in Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Pahang and Penang involved Malaysians, while the one reported in Kuala Lumpur involved a foreigner.
“This brings the total cumulative number of death cases involving Covid-19 in the country to 1,238 cases (0.37 per cent),” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham disclosed 10 new clusters were identified today involving workplace (eight clusters) and community (two clusters).
“The new clusters are namely Taman Tunku Cluster and Tapak Bina Jalan Usahawan Cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Batu 22, Jalan Tenteram and Jalan Belimbing Clusters in Johor, Jalan Kemajuan Cluster in Labuan, Jalan Helang Cluster in Selangor, Jalan Gambang Cluster in Negeri Sembilan and Rajang Cluster in Sarawak,” he said.
As of today, Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 403 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 158 cases and Sarawak with 124 cases.
Other states that reported new cases today are namely Penang (88), Johor (86), Kelantan (44), Pahang (42), Negeri Sembilan (41), Perak (39), Sabah (36), Kedah (27), Melaka (12), Labuan (eight), Putrajaya (five), and Terengganu (three) while Perlis recorded zero new case. — DayakDaily
