Malaysia sees 10 new Covid-19 cases today

KUCHING, July 4: Malaysia recorded 10 new positive cases of Covid-19 today.

Health director general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a press statement said with the additional 10 new cases, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country has increased to 8,658 cases.


He added that out of the 10 new cases, seven were imported involving Malaysians returnees from Saudi Arabia.

Dr Noor Hisham said the remaining three cases involved local transmission which involved one foreigner and two Malaysians.

“One case involved a non-citizen which was detected following a swab test for an arrested person in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

“As for the two Malaysians, one was tested positive prior to the patient having an operation at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre who was later transferred to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

“Another case involved a healthcare worker in Sabah who had just finished working at one of the quarantine centres in Likas,” he said.

Dr Noor Hisham added that there were 76 active cases in the country adding that two patients were treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while they were on ventilators.

He asserted that there were no new deaths reported while the death toll for Covid-19 in Malaysia remained at 121 persons.

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 15 patients who recovered from Covid-19 today.

He added that the total number of patients who recovered to date has increased to 8,461 cases or 97.7 per cent of the overall positive cases. —DayakDaily
