Malaysia registers third death due to Covid-19

KUCHING, March 20: Malaysia has recorded the third case of death due to novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

Ministry of Health’s director general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the third casualty was a 58-year-old man who attended the tabligh gathering at a mosque at Sri Petaling, Selangor last month.


According to information from the Crisis Preparedness Response Centre (CPRC), Dr Noor Hisham said the third death was the 152th case and the victim was admitted to Tawau Hospital on March 9.

Dr Noor Hisham said the victim passed away at 6.27pm today after his health condition deteriorated.

Dr Noor Hisham noted that the victim experienced Severe Acute Respiratory infection symptom upon being admitted to the hospital on March 9.

He noted that the victim was also given respiratory breathing aid when being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the same day.

Meanwhile, the country recorded the first and second death due to Covid-19 last Tuesday.

A 60-year-old pastor from Emmanuel Baptist Church (EBC) and a 34-year-old man from Johor were the first two casualties.—DayakDaily
