Malaysia records 1,123 new Covid-19 cases with four new clusters

KUCHING, Dec 5: A total of 1,123 new cases of positive Covid-19 were recorded throughout the country today, with four new clusters being identified in four states.

Ministry of Health (MOH) director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a statement today, said five of the cases were imported cases, while the rest were local transmissions.

“This brings the total cumulative cases of positive Covid-19 in the country to 71,359 cases, with 10,775 cases still active.

“Four deaths were also recorded today involving three Malaysians and one foreigner, reported in Sabah (two), Johor (one), and Selangor (one), bringing the total cumulative of death cases involving Covid-19 in the country to  380 cases (0.53 per cent),” he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham noted, the four new clusters identified today involved a total of 219 individuals tested positive for Covid-19, which were reported in Sabah (two), Selangor (one) and Kuala Lumpur (one).

“The new clusters are namely Batu Tiga cluster (28 cases) and Domis Road cluster (12 cases) in Sabah, Andalas cluster (16 cases) in Selangor, Roundabout construction cluster (163 cases) in Kuala Lumpur.

“Sabah recorded the highest number of new cases with 391 cases, followed by Selangor with 221 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 265 cases, Johor (66), Penang (44), Perak (39), Kelantan (35), Kedah (30), Negeri Sembilan (10), Labuan (10), Melaka (five), Putrajaya (four), Pahang (two) and Sarawak (one), while Terenggannu and Perlis recorded zero new cases,” he added.

At the same time, Dr Noor Hisham disclosed a total 1,143 cases of positive Covid-19 have recovered and discharged today, adding to the total number of discharged and recovered cases to 60,204 cases (84.4 per cent).

“As of today, a total of 130 individuals were being treated in the hospital intensive care unit (ICU), with 54 of them under respiratory assistance,” he said. –DayakDaily.
