KUCHING, Dec 13: ASEAN 2025 presents an excellent platform to ensure the success of the campaign promoting Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026, says Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.
In a report by TV Sarawak (TVS), Tiong stated that Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair in 2025 would create opportunities for member countries to experience and promote Malaysia’s cultural diversity, harmony, and unique cuisine.
“ASEAN 2025 gives us an opportunity to showcase our harmonious environment, interesting destinations, and food, so that people from ASEAN countries can help promote Malaysia in their respective nations,” Tiong said.
Malaysia officially assumed the ASEAN Chairmanship for 2025 from Laos on Oct 11. The theme for ASEAN 2025 is ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability.’
Tiong also highlighted Motac’s preparations to enhance the VMY 2026 campaign, alongside efforts to improve infrastructure across the country.
“Wherever we can help to upgrade infrastructure, we will assist. It is most important for states to collaborate in these efforts, although we are still in discussions with the Ministry of Economy for additional allocations to improve infrastructure nationwide,” he added. — DayakDaily
