Main office of Sibu Rural District Council closed temporarily after staff tests positive for Covid-19

SIBU, June 10: Sibu Rural District Council is temporarily closing its main office at Level 18 of Wisma Sanyan after one of its administration staff tested positive for Covid-19.

The main office houses its administration office, customer service counter, chairman’s office and community development section.

Chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai in a statement today said the staff tested positive for Covid-19 due to his exposure to a positive patient.

He added that the main office would be closed immediately today for sanitisation exercises to be carried out.

It will re-open on June 14.

He also advised all council staff who have been in contact with the said member of staff to get tested.

“SRDC will commence sanitisation today. Members of public who have business transactions with the council must comply strictly with the standard operating procedures,” he added.

Sempurai sought for the public understanding and cooperation for the sake of safety and wellbeing of the general public and Council.
