KANOWIT, Dec 6: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) incumbent Allan Siden Gramong is in for a five-cornered fight for the N50 Machan seat.
Allan was the last to arrive at the nomination centre at Kanowit District Office Hall at 8.45am this morning.
The earliest candidate to arrive was Madang Dimbab from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) at 7am followed by Ngelayang Unau from Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) at 7.30am.
Mohd Fauzi Abdullah@Joseph Usit from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) arrived at 7.45am followed by Mary Rita Mathias from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) at 8am.
In the 2016 election, Allan won the Machan seat, taking over from his father Datuk Gramong Juna who held the seat for 38 years.
Allan, who was also the youngest Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate at the time, defeated PKR candidate Chen Nguk Fa and Semawi Paong (independent) with a majority of 2,952 votes.
He got 4,550 votes compared to Chen’s 1,381 votes and Semawi’s 1,598 votes.
Returning officer Kathreen Saga confirmed the candidacy of the five candidates today. — DayakDaily
