Machan rep: GPS’ landslide victory in PRN12 meaningful gift from voters

SIBU, Jan 23: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) victory in the 12th Sarawak Election (PRN12) is a meaningful gift from the people of the State, including voters in Machan.

Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong at the Machan DUN Election Officer Appreciation Night held at a restaurant here last night, said the victory will also facilitate the continuation of all of GPS’ development policies besides strengthen political stability in the State.

Allan also congratulated Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on leading GPS to its landslide victory in the State polls.

He expressed his thanks to the election machinery for their cooperation and hard work as well as the residents of the area who helped GPS win the election.

He attributed his success in defending his seat to the efforts and hard work of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) election machinery as well as those of the other GPS component parties.

“Therefore, I would like to congratulate you all for successfully maintaining Machan as a stronghold of the UN and GPS,” he added.

Also present at the ceremony were former Machan assemblyman Dato Sri Gramong Juna and his wife Datin Sri Catherine Gramong, Allan’s wife Dinamica Yanti, community leaders and members of Machan GPS.

In PRN12, Allan retained the Machan seat with a majority of 2,089 votes in a five-cornered fight.

He garnered 4,155 votes to beat four rivals, namely Madang Dimbab from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (2,066 votes), Joseph Nyambong from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (1,267 votes), Mary Rita Mathias from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (203 votes) and Ngelayang Unau from Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (52 votes). — DayakDaily
