MACC: 3 officers from Sarawak Islamic Department remanded over falsified claim

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recently conducted an operation codenamed Ops Tropicana to get to the bottom of scams involving banks.

KUCHING, Feb 2: Three officers Sarawak Religious Department will be held under remand for five days by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate a case involving distribution of religious books amounting RM36,497.50.

The three suspects, one woman and two men, aged between 30 to 40 years old were arrested at the MACC office at around 8 pm yesterday.


They were suspected to be involved in falsifying a claim in 2018, involving the distribution of the religious books amounting RM36,497.50.

The case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.

They were brought by the MACC before Magistrate Zaiton Anuar to apply for remand.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar granted a five-day remand to allow further investigation of the case. — DayakDaily
