Initially, Roy was eyeing the post of Youth chief, but after observing stronger grassroots support for him to contest the vice president’s post, he respected the members’ wishes.

As a representative of the southern zone, Roy emphasised his commitment to championing the interests of the eight Bidayuh constituencies and ensuring that the voices and aspirations of the community continue to be prioritised in the party’s development agenda.

He emphasised the importance of inclusive and balanced leadership in strengthening Bidayuh participation in TDC.

Also present was Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, a candidate for the Youth chief post, who expressed open support for Roy’s candidacy.

Chukpai stated his confidence that the divisions supporting him would also rally behind Roy, as part of efforts to strengthen solid and balanced party leadership.

At the same time, Roy also pledged his support to Chukpai as a candidate for Youth chief, as a sign of solidarity and a joint effort to ensure balanced representation of the younger generation in the party’s leadership.

“So far, eight PRS Bidayuh divisions, along with several other divisions, have expressed their agreement to nominate Roy for the vice president position, reflecting their confidence in his leadership,” said the statement.

In addition to being an MP, Roy is also the party’s deputy treasurer general and the chairman of the Engkelili branch. — DayakDaily
