KUCHING, Oct 28: The Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (LPKP) will cooperate by approving temporary permits for express bus operators to increase trips to facilitate Sarawakians returning home to vote in the 13th Sarawak Election, Minister of Transport Malaysia Anthony Loke said.

He further encouraged airlines and express bus operators to increase their service capacity to meet the demand and ease the way for Sarawakians.

“Usually, airlines are encouraged to add flights and increase capacity, especially between the Peninsula and Sarawak, whenever festive or election seasons arrive.

“I am confident that airlines will make plans because demand will certainly rise leading up to the election. Therefore, I believe that once the Election Commission (SPR) announces the State election dates, airlines will plan to increase their capacity and flights.

“As for express bus companies within Sarawak, LPKP will naturally provide full cooperation in approving temporary permits to add trips,” he said, according to a TVS report.

He was speaking at a press conference after attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Limbang Branch Office at the project site near Masjid Jannatul Firdaus in Limbang, today.

Also present were Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, JPJ Malaysia director-general Dato’ Aedy Fadly Ramli, Limbang Division Resident Unus Tambi and other guests. – DayakDaily
