Lorry driver escapes with minor injuries after 10-tonne truck overturns on Jln Meruton-Baji in Sarikei

KUCHING, June 26: A 36-year-old man escaped with minor injuries after the 10-tonne lorry he was driving skidded and overturned on the shoulder of Jalan Meruton-Baji in Sarikei earlier this morning.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the incident occurred at around 8.16am, prompting an emergency call which saw a team from the Sarikei Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) dispatched to the scene, located about 12 kilometres away.

“The team arrived at 8.30am and found a 10-tonne lorry had skidded and overturned on the roadside.

“The driver, an adult male, managed to exit the vehicle on his own and was conscious,” the spokesperson said in a statement, as reported by TVS.

The victim sustained only minor injuries, including small cuts, and is reported to be in stable condition.

The operation concluded at 8.50am after the scene was deemed safe with no further risks detected. — DayakDaily
