KUCHING, Nov 5: Chong Chieng Jen should take a look in the mirror first, says Lo Khere Chiang, before calling him ‘greedy’ for going after the Stampin seat to become a parliamentarian.

Lo, who is Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) candidate for Stampin, was reacting to the Democratic Action Party (DAP) incumbent who had earlier in the day questioned why Lo was being greedy when he is already a Batu Kitang assemblyman and also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman.

Chong said it would be difficult to juggle three important roles when there are only 24 hours a day, and Parliament sitting could stretch to between 80 and 100 days per year.

Bemused by Chong’s remarks, Lo said: “My brother Chong is the same. He is also an assemblyman (Padungan and previously Kota Sentosa) and an MP (Stampin and previously Bandar Kuching). And for 22 months (during Pakatan Harapan government’s rule), he was a deputy minister.”

“That is not greedy? I also don’t understand the logic,” he raised when addressing the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Mobilisation Night at the party headquarters here tonight, which was officiated by its president and Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Lo emphasised that MPP gave him one of the best platforms to serve the people with hard work.

“I don’t sit around and sleep. I work hard to serve the people. That’s the difference from DAP. That’s why we (GPS-SUPP) won Batu Kitang, Batu Kawah, and even Kota Sentosa because people have confidence and trust in SUPP and GPS,” he added.

With that, he said this 15th General Election (GE15), GPS must wrest back Stampin and kick DAP out because the Opposition has made a fool out of Sarawak for the longest time with so many empty promises.

He urged the people of Sarawak to send all GPS candidates, including himself, into Parliament because they want to represent the voices of Sarawakians.

“We will do the right thing. We are not going to have a coalition with Umno or Pakatan Harapan (referring to GPS as an independent entity). But we will support whoever forms the government because we want a stable government.

“However, we will not blindly follow and support any party or coalition, especially the corrupt. GPS will stay on its toes and do the right thing. This is the hope of not only the people of Sarawak but the whole of Malaysia,” he pledged.

Making the same call to Sarawakians, GPS Bandar Kuching candidate Eric Tay urged voters to decide wisely because every vote is very important.

“For the things that they (DAP) cannot do, let us do it. With such long years of no change, let us make the change. I am not alone, I have GPS behind me with strong leadership, rich in resources and financial capability.

“There is a Chinese proverb that goes, ‘Men fear getting into the wrong line of business, women fear marrying the wrong man’. So choose wisely. Reject them (DAP) and give Bandar Kuching back to GPS. Deliver all 31 seats to GPS. Don’t be fooled twice,” he added. — DayakDaily
