MARUDI, Jan 31: An intense fire destroyed the 37-door Rumah Langat Anthony Collin longhouse in Tinjar, Baram on Wednesday, leaving 70 people homeless.
It was also reported a resident died of a suspected heart attack during the incident.
The incident reportedly occurred at 9.40am. A team of firefighters from Marudi led by their chief, Maureen Sim Ah Lian, was deployed to the scene which is only accessible via a two-hour boat ride from here.
Welfare authorities were also alerted.
The actual cause and estimated losses following the incident have yet to be determined. — DayakDaily
