SARATOK, Oct 1: Long-standing water woes at Ipa longhouse, Krango, Krian, have prompted a call for the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) to act swiftly after the longhouse was reportedly left out of the treated water supply list.
Krian assemblyman Friday Belik made the call after residents told him that the longhouse had been left out of the list of longhouses supposed to receive treated water from JBALB.
The recent dry spell further aggravated the situation, with the gravity-fed water source relied on by residents running dry.
“I am rather disappointed to learn that this longhouse was left out of the list of longhouses that are supposed to receive treated clean water supply from JBALB.
“Therefore, I urge JBALB to take immediate action to resolve this issue holistically,” he said after visiting the longhouse yesterday (Sept 30) to assess the situation and hear directly from residents, as reported by TVS.
During the visit, residents also raised several other long-standing issues and needs for the attention of the relevant authorities. — DayakDaily
