KUCHING, Oct 27: A 41-year-old local man was killed while an Indonesian woman sustained light injuries in an accident that occurred near Kampung Bogag at Jalan Bau-Serikin on Saturday night (Oct 25).
In a statement, Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said that the accident occurred at around 6.20am.
“Preliminary investigations found that the pickup truck carrying the two victims—with the man being the driver—lost control while navigating a bend before skidding and plunging into a ravine.
“The woman was rushed to Bau Hospital using an ambulance and was discharged after receiving treatment, while the man was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Those with information on the accident are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation. — DayakDaily
