KUCHING, May 3: A local man was fined RM1,000 or faces six months in jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today for conducting business without a license, namely selling 72 boxes of fireworks and various types of firecrackers.
Fami Assikin Salleh, 31, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan to the charge under Section 3(1) of the Business, Professions and Trade Licensing Ordinance 1958.
According to the charge, he committed the offense at a premise on Jalan Bazar, Satok, around 10.4 pm on April 3.
Based on the facts of the case, on the day of the incident, a police team conducted a raid on Jalan Bazar due to the sale of fireworks and firecrackers without a permit.
During the raid, the police inspected a table at a business premises and found the offending items.
A man was arrested and items such as 72 boxes of fireworks and various types of firecrackers were seized.
Investigations revealed that the accused was conducting the sale of fireworks and firecrackers without a valid license and permit.
Prosecution was conducted by Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
