KUCHING, Aug 4: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) supreme council member Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim believes Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) should explain why Selangor and Penang fail to implement local council elections first before finger-pointing at Sarawak for not doing so.
Ahmad said for Sarawak PH to demand Sarawak to carry out local elections was another case where Sarawak PH leaders and members were “fast to talk but slow in thinking”.
“Why don’t they start doing it in Penang and Selangor all these years before last general election?”
“Why hammer our YAB CM (Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) on this? Nothing better to do, just love to complain.
“Please show by example and see how successful PKR or PH for that matter in implementing all that had been mentioned in the Manifesto.
“PH cannot even get the UEC (Unified Examination Certificate) recognized and accepted by the federal Ministry Education until today since taking over Putra Jaya.
“Sarawak is and until today the only government since the Late Tok Nan (Former Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem) that had recognized and accepted UEC.
“Our current Sarawak government had abolished tolls all over Sarawak since the Late Tok Nan’s tenure of office. When is PH ever going to remove highway tolls in Semenanjung Malaysia as promised before general election?” asked Ahmad in a statement.
He was rebutting the recent statement of Sarawak PKR information chief Desmond Kho who challenged Sarawak government to implement local council elections.
Ahmad thus advised Sarawak PH leaders to solve its internal problems first before mounting attacks on Sarawak government.
He further pointed out that not only PH failed to realise its election manifesto, since helming the government, PH had introduced new taxes such as soda tax which was implemented since July 1 and departure tax which was gazetted in July 31 and took effect from Sept 1 onwards.
Ahmad also questioned PH’s promise of abolishment of goods and service tax (GST) which only to be replaced by sales and service tax (SST).
“Last time PH campaigned and promised to remove GST. Now what happen? They introduced SST, new levy on overseas travels and soda tax etc.”
Ahmad who is also Pedawan Municipal Council (MPP) deputy chairman further condemned PH government for neglecting Sarawak in development programmes.
“How many new projects have been approved for Penang, Kedah, Selangor to name a few since PH taking over Putra Jaya? And How many projects have been cancelled and downsized in Sarawak since they took over?”
Ahmad believed that Sarawak PH should fight for Sarawak’s interest first instead of its own party interests.
“Where does your loyalty lies? Why doesn’t Sarawak PH champion Sarawak interest first before their own party interest? Be truthful in serving the people of Sarawak,” said Ahmad. — DayakDaily
